Industry Courses

Our industry training courses are an excellent opportunity to enhance the skills and safety awareness of your team.

Training is an important part of upskilling your team, preparing them for the tasks they’ll undertake daily and keeping them safe whist doing so.  Our industry courses are aimed at those already working in the industry and those embarking on the beginning of their horticultural careers who will be using a variety of mechanical equipment. 

The course is designed for beginners who want to move into horticultural industry and novice students already in the industry.

It is ideal for anyone starting their career, or new to working in the horticulture, landscaping & grounds maintenance industries.

 The course is designed for beginners up to novice students. And gain a certificate of competence on completion.

Is there onsite parking?

Birley Moor Garden Centre have a large car park on-site.

All practical sessions held at Birley Moor Garden Centre start at 9.30am and finish at 4.30 pm. Please arrive by 9.15am for registration and housekeeping.

Sessions at Birley Moor Garden Centre will have an AM and PM short comfort break, with a 30-minute break for lunch.

You can purchase hot/cold food and drinks at Birley Moor Garden Centre most of the time, but the food truck is occasionally closed. Alternatively, you can bring a packed lunch.

Birley Moor Garden Centre will provide candidates with the relevant industry equipment during the course; you must come prepared with your own PPE as listed on the course information page.

Birley Moor Garden Centre, is accessible via Supertram (Blue Route), and bus links.

Birley Moor Garden Centre will issue candidates with an eCertifacte of competence upon passing the practical element of courses.

(eCertificates will benefit you, us, and the planet: Clients will receive their certificates much quicker. eCertificates can be easily stored and shared by employer and candidate. Removes processes and resources involved with creating physical certificates. Removes the need for delivery packaging. Reduces waste materials involved with delivery processes. Removes emissions associated with certificate transit).

For our 2-day beginner courses the HS&E and CSCS sessions will be held at our 3rd party training provider site: Marvel Training Ltd, 60a Station Road, Kiveton Park, Sheffield, S26 6QQ (they have off-road parking).

Once payment has been received, we will pass your details onto Marvel Training Limited who will contact you to arrange a suitable date to undertake the HS&E and CSCS training.

The HS&E course and exam will take up to 4 hours.

The CSCS touch screen test is 1 hour; however, candidates will need to revise for this up-front. Marvel Training Ltd can supply revision materials digitally for £35. Please liaise with them directly for this service.

Accreditation and certificates for the HS&E and CSCS training will come from Marvel Training Ltd.
